This is from the Avantgarde marketing material about their iTRON technology. It could be marketing BS but I‘m really intrigued to find out how these ZERO iTRON speakers will sound with a dCS DAC at low volume. Fortunately, the Avantgarde dealer is also a dCS dealer.

The dCS dealer has the Lina DAC connected directly to the Avantgarde ZERO iTRON via XLR interconnects in his showroom and says that these speakers sound excellent, also and particularly at low volume (his words). He will demo them with a preamp, too, but says a preamp is not necessary.
They are very expensive but may be worth it if they sound as good as he says at low volume. I would „save“ money on no need for a preamp/external power amp and XLR interconnects are cheaper than speaker cables. For the bass, there are volume buttons and bass gain and boost sliders on the back plus an 8-band bass EQ that one controls via an app.
It would be a very minimalistic setup with the Lina. The demo in this video is likely played at very high volume. If I‘m allowed, I will record parts of the demo at low volume but only with my iPhone. Hopefully it will happen in the next couple of weeks.
