Jeff, I like config # 2 making the most of the Rossini. Now I have two things to address.
1- I have ripped about 2K cd’s to a Roon Nucleus. I mostly will be playing cd’s. That said I want to use Mosaic and not have my files streamed in any way that does not take full advantage of Rossini. IE Roon not my choice sound wise from past experience. That where I get tripped up The cleanest way to stream my files to Rossini is?
Andrew, that’s exactly what I want to hear. I am trying to get this set up right for the investment I have made in the Rossini, thank you. Terrific, I will look into Synology, I have started reading about MinimServer. (must admit I will probably need help installing it). I enjoyed using Mosaic so no issue there. So to summarize.
I will have the RJ45 wall unit plugged directly into my Rossini. I will then place the NAS on line off my network switch and set up MinimServer and control with Mosaic!! As soon as my Rossini get delivered I will work to set up the MinimServer download etc. Thank you I really appreciate your time and attention to help me get set up with this. Optimal sound quality is what I am after.
Great Anthony. These may help.

Essentially you can run MinimSever directly on any Synology NAS from the x09 series onwards:
Thx this is what I found
Synology 2-Bay NAS DS223 (Diskless)Synology 2-Bay NAS DS223 (Diskless)
A DS223 will be fine. For $50 more you could go with a DS224+ which would buy you a faster processor and ability to upgrade memory - but you would only really need those if you have a huge library. But either of those with a pair of 8TB Samsung QVO SSD drives (870s are fine, the read speeds are way more than you need for streaming audio) and you should be good to go.
This to remind you if MinimServer 2 is new to you that it comes in custom versions for each brand of server. Make sure that you download the correct one.
I would also advise getting a licensed version as it is not costly and can have advantages.
You will also find it of help to download its control application MinimServe2. No extra cost.
You don’t really have to “download” onto a PC and then the DiskStation NAS in the case of MinimServer2 for Synology; it can be installed straight from the Package Center inside the DiskStation, provided you have added the SynoCommunity Package Source, from http://packages.synocommunity.com/
Once that is done, MinimServer is just one of the many packages you can install with a simple click, just like the App Store on a smartphone.
MinimWatch on the other hand, is to be installed on a PC or Mac in your network so that you can control MinimServer from there - though you can also do it from the MinimServer control panel inside a DiskStation web session.
Thanks again, I will follow up. For me 4TB should be fine. I was also reading that DCS now has a relationship with Audirvana? If so is it worth exploring ?
Yes, it enables them to configure all the settings correctly automagically which is nice. See my other post.
