Anyone tried ADOT fibre network connectivity?

Just use 2 x cisco 2960 units and connect a fibre cable between them.
Isn’t this the cheapest way to do it?

Probably, even comparing to the cheapest stuff one can get on Amazon. Still seeing these things for next-to-nothing on eBay, certified or even NOS/NIB. Definitely cheaper than a GigaFoil or EtherREGEN.

I just did this and very happy with the results. A definite change that I hear as better. More air and detail.

Been doing this for a while. The amazing part is the official Cisco SFP transceivers were only $10 each!

Hi

I am going to try this for myself, so a few questions.
I have a 2960, the blue 8 way type, this is my main switch, this has quite a few devices plugged into it, but from there i have about 5 meter of cable to my hifi, here it goes into a phoenixnet, and then to my melco.
Now if i removed the phoenixnet, would i be better just placing a second 2960 next to the other one and connect them with a small lenght of fibre, and then carry on using the 5 meter lenght of cable, but now plug it into the melco, or put the second 2960 next to hifi, and run 5 meters of fibre cable, and then a very short length of cable to the melco.
Also can you give details of cable and the sfp transceivers needed please.

Cheers dunc

No network expert here however my intuition says to:

eliminate the Phoenixnet

plug the Melco into the first Cisco switch

run a 5 meter fibre cable to the second Cisco located near the Vivaldi

have only the Vivaldi plugged into the second switch

I used a fibre cable from Amazon as per @Anupc
and purchased original Cisco SFP transceivers from eBay

I am not home so unable to give you the Cisco model # for my SFP’s however a bit of Googling should indicate which ones to use with your Cisco’s

Best
