Another external clock question

Concerning the Bartok.

It has two clock inputs which could use the 44K and 48K output from the Rossini clock. However does this mean the external clock is only used for 44K or 48K streams or does the Bartok automatically multiply these inputs up to also furnish, for example, an 88K and 96K clock?

Thanks

Yes.

44.1K and 48k are base frequencies. The dCS user manuals for some components ( they are a bit inconsistent) refer to the clock connections as Group 1 and Group 2 instead of just e.g. output or input 1 and output or input 2 presumably for this reason.

Yes, it can be used for higher audio rates.

It doesn’t multiply the Word Clock rate up to the audio rate, as the Word Clock signal coming from the Rossini Clock isn’t directly replacing the Bartók’s internal clock to directly control the audio. The Bartók locks its VCXO (the oscillator for its own clock signal) to this incoming Word Clock signal which is then used to directly control the audio.

Therefore, the Word Clock rate doesn’t need to be the same multiple as the audio rate being clocked, just the same base (it needs to be a direct multiple of the audio rate).

Gotcha, thanks
