Is the Qobuz ghost, now haunting my iMac/Bartók setup?

Sorry I didn’t notice your post on the other thread. Interesting.

Regardless whether it’s a UPnP or a Qobuz/Tidal playback stream, there’s always an initial stream initiation handshake that goes on between the Server and the dCS (trigged by the Control point, i.e. Mosaic or the Qobuz/Tidal App in case of Connect, selecting a track for playback).

I would imagine the FAILED TO START… message is an indication that, for whatever reason, that initial handshake between has encountered a problem.

There could be a number of different problems, including the Server not responding in time, or an IP packet drops/error between the Server and Renderer, etc etc. However, such handshakes will usually go through multiple retires (it’s usually a TCP handshake), so, it’s not surprising that after that initial error message, the track did end up playing.

Not had that pop up since I posted yesterday.
However, Playing the same album this morning, it randomly fails to move on to next track, but simply plays it for a second time, then moves on to next track. It’s never the same track not moving on and replaying. Really weird.
Controlling Mosaic using iPhone. I turned iPad off, in case it was conflicting with the phone, having Mosaic open on two devices. So that’s not the cause.
I was going to say it’s only one or two track on a 50 track album (Double White Album Deluxe version) But I spoke too soon, it just jumped two tracks!

Is the iPhone’s screen turning off after 10 minutes a reason?

It it only happening for this UPnP version of this Beatles album? As it is 24/96 I assume that the file is a purchased download. Correct?

Is this the first occasion for you to try playing it or have you played it without any issue previously?

If these recent attempts are the first to demonstrate the issue and if your other UPnP albums play OK then you may have some unusual corruption of the folder or file.

I know for a fact that the current version of dCS’ Bartok firmware is pretty bullet-proof (especially w.r.t UPnP) :+1:

Which suggests the UPnP playback problem you’re encountering is either something dodgy with your home network, or your iMac is acting funky.

Focus on those two areas. Not Mosaic/iPhone/iPad.

Correct Pete. As I recall, it was purchased from Highresaudio from Germany. I also download from HDTracks in the States.
I do in fact, have two other versions. A ripped CD and also 24/96 from a USB Apple pen drive about 10 years ago.

I haven’t played them since I got rid of the Melco, back in November. Been using Qobuz.

I did think that Pete, but the tracks are random. One minute it plays, next instant it skips, or plays twice.
