Yesterday I had the great pleasure to welcome @all2ofme to the factory (third from left below) along with a couple of other audio friends who are not (yet) forum members. Apologies for the badly backlit photo.
I have to say as much as it is always a pleasure and a privilege to spend time in the demo room I rarely get to have this much fun. I would describe these gentlemen as “connoisseur music lovers” rather than “audiophiles”. There were no tired audiophile standards on their playlists, just a hugely varied diet of ska, rocksteady, dubstep, reggae, 70s, 80s and 90s indie, rap, and a kaleidoscope of world music. I can’t recall ever before having had visitors dancing in the demo room.
I am grateful to all of them for a really enjoyable day.
Still have to frequently pinch myself and remind myself that this is actually my job!
Let’s put some noodles and a beer to the face next, Anup. (More on noodles later, ha!)
Such a great experience visiting Swavesey. Lovely, welcoming people, and an insightful peep at what goes into making the boxes that sing to us each day.
Some factory visits flip me sharply from fan into “oh, actually, not for me.”
Not this one! I must now find a way to give dCS more custom. My listening room at home can only exist without a Varèse for so long*
Thank you, dCS team. You are wonderful hosts.
*The duration of “so long” will be driven by my ability to really, really like noodles for long periods.
Not having been to the factory (relatively new customer, not far away mind you!) would be interested to know what the other equipment is in the reference system(s) in use….
Not by way of a recommendation or endorsement of course, just out of interest!
The demo system evolves constantly but slowly. Last week we were running d’Agostino Relentless 800 amps (these have replaced the MxV 400s) driving the Magico M6 es. The cable loom was a combination of Shunyata (power for all the front end components, running out of a pair of Denalis) and Transparent signal and speaker (Magnum Opus which has just replaced our Opus). The new speaker cables were still burning in but I thought the system was sounding pretty good.
