Hi, I am using Rossini apex without a seperate Rossini clock. When I connect Rossini apex to Aurender N20, would it sound more accurate if I do BNC connection between rossini’s worldclock “output” and n20’s worldclock “input” using aes/ebu 75 ohm cable with Rossini’s sync mode “Master” selected? I performed the above connection and still I do not hear the differences…
(At least the aforementioned connection was recommended in AI “Glock” app.)
Yes, it will definitely be more accurate to use the wordclock output of the Rossini connected to the wordclock input on the Aurender. Sounds like you have the Rossini set up correctly.
Just to check, do you have the Aurender set to synchronise to the incoming clock signal? In the Aurender Conductor app, navigate to Settings → Advanced → Sync with External Clock. Make sure this setting is turned On. I did a short guide on accomplishing this for the N30SA which I imagine should be very similar to the N20 being another Aurender N series, which you can see here.
Using the clock connection means the Rossini doesn’t have to synchronise to the clock information embedded in the AES signal, which improves performance by lowering jitter. I’d keep this connection even if you aren’t hearing big differences, as from a technical perspective it is definitely the better way to go.
Yes, I did set Settings → Advanced → Sync with External Clock and checked the word clock automatically changes 44.1 and 48.kz on Aurender app’s wordclock frequency.
After years of using dCS product, now I am using word clock for the first time !!
You’ve got everything set up correctly in that case! Using wordclock definitely helps.
Just to note that if at some point you considered a Rossini Clock, it does work with the N20 - you can connect Output 3 of the Clock to the N20 and use Aurender’s RS232 dongle for the Clock to make it compatible. I did check with the Aurender guys to make sure their dongle still works with the newer products like the N series and it does, so you do have the option of adding a Rossini Clock in future if the mood should take you
Either way, I hope you’re enjoying your Rossini APEX!
